A gentle examination of the uterine cavity

Outpatient hysteroscopy is an endoscopic examination of the inside of the uterus, during which we can take a tissue sample or remove unwanted growths, such as polyps. It is the only way to view the uterine cavity without the need for surgical opening.

At GYN MEDICO clinic, we perform both diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy. We have our own top-equipped operating room, and thanks to modern equipment and the expertise of our doctors, we are able to ensure maximum comfort and minimal discomfort during procedures.

You are welcome to consult our specialists even if you have already been diagnosed at another medical facility.

When we recommend hysteroscopy

Diagnostic hysteroscopy

This procedure is recommended when a gynecological examination indicates possible changes in the uterine tissue that require further investigation.

During hysteroscopy, we take a tissue sample and determine the next steps based on histological analysis. The entire procedure can be performed without general anesthesia.

Operative hysteroscopy

This procedure is used to visualize the uterine cavity during surgical intervention.

One of the most common procedures is the removal of polyps — growths on the uterine lining that may cause difficulties with conception or contribute to miscarriage.

It is advisable to remove such growths even if they do not cause any symptoms, primarily to rule out the presence of abnormal or cancerous cells through histological examination.

Procedure details

We use general analgesia or local anesthesia for hysteroscopy in our procedure room (general anesthesia is not required for this procedure).

For surgical procedures, we can also offer Entonox — a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen administered through inhalation, which helps to relax the body and reduce anxiety.

A hysteroscope (an endoscopic instrument) is inserted through the vagina into the uterus, allowing the doctor to visualize the uterine cavity and the surface of the uterine lining. This enables them to take a tissue sample or locate and remove polyps and other abnormalities.

The removed tissue is then sent for histological analysis. After a short rest in the clinic, you can return home.

"Recovery after a hysteroscopic procedure is very quick in the case of diagnostic hysteroscopy. For operative hysteroscopy, recovery depends on the extent of the procedure, but it usually does not significantly limit the patient’s daily life. Further treatment is determined based on the results of the histological analysis of the sampled or removed tissue."
