Information

Plasma therapy is a unique aesthetic medicine method that uses a client's own blood plasma to reduce aesthetic imperfections and support tissue regeneration. At GYN MEDICO, we offer plasma therapy for intimate areas. Using advanced techniques, we can provide rejuvenation of the external genitalia and vagina, reduction of caesarean section and postnatal scars and injuries, and treatment of other aesthetic and health concerns in the intimate area. All procedures are performed under local anaesthesia by our experienced specialist doctors in aesthetic gynaecology.

How does plasma therapy work?

Blood plasma is the liquid component of human blood. It is rich in platelets and contains a range of minerals, proteins and enzymes that support the growth and formation of collagen fibres and subcutaneous blood vessels. By applying your own plasma to the treated area, we trigger a natural regeneration process that restores skin elasticity. This makes the method highly effective for aesthetic treatment of the labia and external genitalia in general, as well as for improving the elasticity of the vaginal walls. It works equally well for scar reduction, whether those are caesarean section scars or scarring from an episiotomy during childbirth. Postnatal scars and injuries can be treated with plasma therapy from the end of the postnatal period onwards. Plasma therapy also shows good results in treating vaginal dryness and chronic skin conditions in the anogenital area, such as lichen sclerosus and lichen simplex.

What does the procedure involve?

Before the procedure, your doctor will discuss your needs and wishes with you, review your medical history and carry out a pre-procedure clinical examination. The procedure itself has three stages. First, we take a blood sample and use a centrifuge to separate the plasma. We then apply local anaesthesia, and finally inject your own plasma into the selected areas using a syringe. The certified technology we use allows us to retain up to four times the normal concentration of platelets in the separated plasma, making the rejuvenating and regenerative effect of the treatment particularly effective. After the procedure, you are welcome to rest at the clinic for a while before heading home or continuing with your day.

What to expect after plasma therapy?

Most clients experience no significant discomfort after the procedure. The treated area may be red, slightly sensitive and occasionally bruised, but this typically settles within a few days. The full results of the treatment become visible after a few days, and the effect of firmer, more resilient tissue lasts for 12 to 15 months. After that, a repeat treatment is usually recommended, though this depends on what the plasma therapy was used to address. For some scars or chronic skin conditions, a single session may be sufficient.
